California's Title-24 Compliance

All of SteelROCK's panels, installed with or without battens meet California's Title-24 Energy Code due to their built-in air-space design. This air-space creates an Above Sheathing Ventilated (ASV) space above the spaced or solid sheathed roof deck.

Above Sheathing Ventilation

The original 12-month long, full-scale, outdoor test performed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in conjunction with the Department of Energy (DOE) at Knoxville TN. The report, based on this test, “The Effects of Infrared-Blocking Pigments and Deck Venting on Stone-Coated Metal Residential Roofs”, by William A. Miller PhD, dated January 2006, shows the benefits of creating an above sheathing space.

All SteelROCK Roof panels, due to their design and installation process, automaticlly provide an above sheathing ventilation (ASV) space directly above the solid or spaced sheathing on residential or light commercial construction. It is this air space that has been proven to provide excelent insulation benefits to the structure based on the ORNL ASV testing referenced above. Roof systems like SteelROCK's with an above sheathing ventilated space, provide energy equal to 25% total solar reflectance baseline asphalt shingle.

Conclusion

This means consumers and builders alike can now benefit a roof system (SteelROCK's PACIFIC SHAKE®, PACIFIC TILE®, PACIFIC VILLA-TILE®) that incorporates an average 1" air-space above the sheathed roof deck, creating a truly energy efficient roof.
